FCST Open Water Nationals: FCST was well represented at the 2012 Open Water National Championships in Fort Myers, Florida. Daniel Graviss led the group with two top 8 finishes, placing 5th in the 5K and 8th in the 10K. This was a large improvement from last year's 12th place in the 5K and 43rd place in the 10K. The field included several professional swimmers, World Championship medallists, and 2012 Olympian Alex Meyer.

Joining Daniel were teammates Corey Duke, Shelby Fruge, and Alicia Finnigan. All three swam the 5K, with Corey placing 21st, Shelby placing 39th, and Alicia placing 50th. In order to qualify for this USA Swimming National Championships, the athletes had to meet a time standard in either the 1000 or 1650 freestyle. Congratulations to all FCST swimmers!

FCST Named GOLD MEDAL CLUB
USA Swimming released the 2012 Club Excellence results, and FCST has been named a USA Swimming GOLD MEDAL Club! This is the first time FCST has achieved this honor, and FCST is the only Texas team to make the Top 20 this year!
The Club Excellence Program identifies the top 18 & under clubs based strictly on performance. The top 20 clubs are named Gold Medal clubs, the next 80 clubs are named Silver Medal clubs, and the remaining clubs with a Junior National qualifier are named Bronze Medal clubs. Points are based on world rankings, and only swimmers with LCM Junior National times are eligible.
According to the USA Swimming website, the program is designed to “promote the development of strong, well-rounded age group and senior swimming programs that produce elite 18 & under athletes;” and “provide recognition and resources to motivate and assist member clubs to strive for the highest ideals of athlete performance.”
This designation exemplifies the culmination of tremendous team work. Congratulations to all FCST athletes, parents, and coaches for being recognized as one of THE premier swim teams in USA Swimming! For more information, click here.
