Olympic Trials Wrap-Up

Eight members of the First Colony Swim Team in Sugar Land, Texas just finished competing at the fastest meet in the country.  The USA Swimming Olympic Trials held in Omaha, Nebraska from June 24th– July 2ndis not only the fastest meet a swimmer can qualify for, but it is also where Team USA selects its members for the 2012 Olympics team in London. 

Congratulations to Daniel Graviss (18), Eegan Groome (19), Jordan Hancock (17), Romy Landeck (18), Maddie Locus (18), Simone Manuel (15), Brett Pinfold (17), and Skylar Smith (19), all of who did an excellent job at their first USA Swimming Olympic Trials meet.  Leading the way was the youngest member of the team, Simone Manuel, who narrowly missed the Women’s 100 Free semi-final by finishing 17th.  Simone also finished 20thin the Women’s 50 Free, and 50thin the Women’s 200 Free.   Simone’s times in the 50 and 200 Free were new FCST team records, while her 50 Free was a new GULF LSC record.  Three other teammates finished in the Top 50; Maddie Locus, who just completed her first year at The University of Georgia, finished 31stin the Women’s 100 Free, and 43rdin the Women’s 50 Free; Skylar Smith, who just completed her first year at The University of Texas, finished 43rdin the Women’s 200 IM, and 48thin the Women’s 400 IM; and Daniel Graviss, a recent Elkins High School graduate, finished 41stin the Men’s 1500 Free.
