Make A Splash Day Looking for Helpers
Make A Splash Day Looking for Helpers
On Saturday, April 27, FCST will host its first Make A Splash Day community event from 1-5 PM at the Settler's Park Pool. Families around Sugar Land have been invited to bring their children to the pool to learn about water safety. There will be fun activities both in and out of the water for children ages 5-12. We will also be registering children for FREE swim lessons through FCST's SwimFit learn-to swim program. Children who receive free or reduced lunch at school are eligible to apply for lessons. Free swim lessons are being provided through a $3,000 grant provided to us by the USA Swimming Foundation.
We are asking for your help in this important endeavor. The children on our team have benefitted greatly from their ability to swim. As a team, we want to spread the fun and healthful benefits to others in our community.
Here are just a few statistics about drowning in America:
Drowning is the 2nd leading cause of accidental death for children
10 people per day die of drowning in the U.S.
Formal swim lessons can reduce the possibility of drowning by 88%.
