Monster Week is coming to FCST!

MONSTER WEEK 2013-14

What is Monster Week?

Monster Week is an annual tradition in which many swim teams across the country participate. Monster Weeks take place at each level of competitive, year-round swimming, including USA Swim Clubs, YMCA teams, high school programs, and collegiate programs. It’s designed to be the most physically challenging phase of training throughout the season. Some examples might include an increase in volume (yards), more challenging intervals, and/or longer and more frequent practice sessions.

Who participates in Monster Week:

Senior 1 & 2; Pre-Senior 1 & 2; Age Groups 1, 2, & 3; Junior 1 & 2.

Why Monster Week?

Whatever level you or your swimmer may be at in their swimming career (age-group, senior, collegiate, post-grad, etc.), Monster weeks are designed to prepare the swimmer for growth and improvement 2-3 months out from a championship season. It’s an investment in ones training to see their hard work pay off. The more people who participate, the more fun each practice and the championship meet will be.

Championship meet performance/outcome goals:

Senior Athlete– Use these meets to earn new time standards to qualify for next seasons round of championship meet(s), in addition to marking seasonal & yearly improvement.

Age Group Athlete– Use these meets to see progress/improvement from the last championship meet or season.
