FCST Shines at TAGS!

30 athletes and their families competed in the annual long course Texas Age Group Swimming (TAGS) Championship, July 23-27, held on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. This is an age-group meet consisting of swimmers throughout the state of Texas with qualifying times around AAA times or faster. FCST finished 11^th as a team at the TAGS meet; a tremendous finish for our young committed swimmers.

Derek Lu broke the team record in the 200 freestyle, while all 4 relay records in the 11-12 boys age group were reset. Hayden Bellotti also received national recognition from Swimming World Magazine for being involved in 3 swim-offs for 8^th place in the 50 freestyle. While the swim off itself isn’t uncommon, tying with the same person 3 times is. Hayden demonstrated great effort, consistency, and sportsmanship in this rare but fun event.

This meet earned FCST over 208,000 points in USA Swimming’s Virtual Club Championship, a ranking almost 3000 swim clubs in the nation, based on participation and performance for swimmers ages 11-18. FCST is now ranked 2^nd in Gulf Swimming, 14^th in the Southern Zone, and 34^th in the nation.
