31 Swimmers Represent FCST at Open Carnival!

GULF RICE Open Water Carnival 

Twin Lakes - Manvel, TX

    What a great showing of FCST swimmers at the annual RICE Open Water Carnival in Manvel, TX! We had 31 swimmers from all the 9 - 10 age group, 11 - 12, age group, and the 13 - 14 age group. Swimmers competed in the 800 meter, 1 mile swim, and 2 mile swim. From the results the Gulf will select a team to represent the Gulf the Open Water Festival in Fort Myers, Florida  in April of 2019. We will keep everyone posted on the selection process,

   We had a lot of FCST swimmers swim open water for the first time. They were surprised how they were able to take on the challenge of swimming in a lake for an extended period of time. "Open Water" means that swimmers swim in a body of water such as, a lake or the ocean and yes, that sometimes means swimming with the fish!  Open Water is a great time to try something different in the sport of swimming. At the same time, Open Water can open many opportunities such as, being selected for a USA Open Water select camp and competitions. 

    We look forward on building on the momentum heading into the future. Our swimmers will grow in confidence both in the pool and in distance events such as, the 1650 yard Freestyle or the 1500 meter Freestyle swim. Thank you all for the support! GO FCST!
