FCST Races Through Snow and Tornadoes in Dallas - 3rd in Combined

Congratulations to all the athletes that competed at the 38^th Annual Greater Southwest! FCST rolled into Dallas the same way we finished up the December Champs season, SWIMMING LIGHTS OUT FAST! The meet started on Thursday night with the 500 Free and 400 IM where FCST came in ready to race.  Mason Ramsower ended up getting 2^nd place in the 13-14 500 Freestyle while Lucas Wong finished 1^st Place in 11-12 400 IM and Todd Achuff finished 2^nd Place in the 15-18 400 IM.

The Friday sessions were more of the same with all the kids coming in ready to go.  The meet started off with some freestyle events where Keely Rollinson made a statement by winning the Senior Girls 100 Free with a 51.77.  Kayla Fu (2^nd Place), Sophia Neilson (4^th Place) and Avery Collins (5^th Place) followed that up with an incredible 200 Butterfly where both Sophia and Avery picked New TAGS Cuts.  The 15-18 Boys 200 Butterfly was also an FCST party with the Alex Fu (1^st Place), Kevin Zhou (2^nd Place and New Futures Cut) and Hayden Bellotti (3^rd Place) all going 1 – 2 – 3.  Unfortunately after this amazing race the finals session was called because of tornado warnings in the area.

On Saturday, the extra rest gave FCST a little extra speed with Kayla Fu breaking Misty Hyman’s 200 Freestyle Meet Record with a time of 1:50.46 from 1994.  Misty Hyman is an Olympic Gold Medalist in the 200 Butterfly so that is kind of a big deal : ). The night continued with Keely Rollinson winning the 15-18 Girls 200 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly, Hayden Bellotti winning the 15-18 Boys 200 Free, Alex Fu winning the 15-18 100 Fly and 200 Breaststroke, Ashlyn Hembree winning the 15-18 Girls 200 Breaststroke and Winnie Liu putting together a win in the 11-12 Girls 200 Butterfly.  In addition, Kevin Zhou picked up his second Futures Cut in the 200BR (2^nd).

Sunday was short and sweet with just a morning session full of sprinting.  Keely Rollinson picked up a meet record in the 100 IM and Alex Fu picked up a meet record in the 50 Butterfly.  Kayla Fu, Alex Fu and Mason Ramsower also all picked up team records in the 100 IM. 

Thank you to all the parents, officials and meet staff for an amazing weekend!  The environment that was created truly made the entire weekend very special and a lot of fun.
