2020 Texas Age Group Swimming Short Course Championship!

16th - Combined; 16th - Girls; 19th Boys
The First Colony Swim Team rolled into Lewisville, Texas on Thursday night with Mason Ramsower and Avery Collins swimming the 1000 Freestyle! Mason ended getting 8th place for the boys and Avery wound up 10th place for the girls. Shortly after the 13-14 Boys also swam an outstanding 800 Free Relay consisting of Mason Ramsower, Kyle Kulow, Andrew Chen and Austin Pan coming in 7th place. The meet was off to a great start!
Friday started off with some big swims in Butterfly. Winnie Liu came in strong with going a 2:15.25 in the 200 Fly while Kayla Fu dropped a 56.27 in the 100 Fly getting 3rd. Later Winnie and Kayla would both swam the 200 Freestyle with Winnie getting 6th and Kayla Fu being the 13-14 Girls State Champion for the first time of the meet going a 1:50.29!! On the Boys side Mason Ramsower came in with a great swim in the 200 Free and wound up 7th for the 13-14 boys. Alfred Macasaet came in ready to race his way into dropping a 28.85 in the 50 Backstroke giving him a 13th place finish. The night finished up with Avery Collins and Mason Ramsower representing the team in the 400 IM. They both put together a great race where Avery came in 11th and Mason ended up 13th to close out the night.
Saturday was a big day for the team with lots of second swims for the athletes. Kayla Fu dropped an incredible double with the 200 Fly and the 50 Freestyle. Kayla won the B Final of the 200 Fly coming in 9th and crushed the 50 Freestyle getting 3rd place. Winnie Liu kept up her momentum getting 13th in the 200 IM, 12th in the 200 Breaststroke and 14th in the 100 Fly. Alfred and Mason charged the 50 Freestyle where Mason got 13th and Alfred got 3rd place. Shortly after the girls had an immense showing in the 200 Breaststroke with Sophia Nguyen getting 13th for the 11-12s while Charlize Tran (12th), Lillie Sczech (13th), and Avery Collins (3rd) raced the top 13-14 girls in the state. Mason Ramsower stayed strong by coming in 7th in the 500 Freestyle.
Sunday finished up with a lot of sprinting for the team and a little bit of distance. Avery Collins swam the 1650 Freestyle for the first time in her career in the morning session and dropped a time that gave her an 8th place finish. Kayla Fu finished up her Short Course TAGS with a 2nd State Title in the 100 Freestyle and a 9th place finish in the 9th place. Winnie, Alfred and Kyle all got best times and 11th place in their Age Groups 100 Freestyle to close out the meet.
First Colony Swim Team at the end of the meet wound up 16th as a team, 19th on the Boy’s scores and 16th on the Girl’s scores. We are all very proud of the athletes and can’t wait to get stared on the Long Course Season. Thank you to all the parents and officials for supporting our athletes in the sport that they love!
