First Colony Swim Team wants to congratulate Coach Dana Skelton on her excellent achievement - she has been awarded Developmental Coach of the Year from the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Every governing body in the USA was allowed to nominate one coach in their sport - USA Swimming chose Coach Dana as their nominee. Based on many well-deserved reasons, the USOPC chose Dana as the recipient of this award. It has been 16 years since a coach in the sport of swimming has received this award. Dana does an excellent job of planning for, coaching, and mentoring her swimmers and many coaches in the sport of swimming throughout the world. Dana has coached for FCST for over 13 years and has coached and impacted the lives of thousands of swimmers and families over the years. It is an honor for not only Dana, but for First Colony Swim Team. We are very proud of Dana and it is a privilege to have her as our Head Developmental Coach. Please join us in congratulating Coach Dana on this prestigious award. Below is the write-up from the USOPC on Coach Dana for receiving this award.

Developmental Coach of the Year – Dana Skelton (swimming)
Dana Skelton has dedicated her tenure at USA Swimming to developing individuals and paving the way for coach, athlete and parent development on First Colony Swim Team, Inc. in Sugar Land, Texas. Her mentorship encompasses a wide reach of athletes, including the FCST Strong Girls program that was developed to show girls ages nine and older that they can be strong and fearless leaders. During COVID-19, Skelton continued to coach through virtual training sessions to develop high-level analysis of the sport, physical guidance and a safe space for athletes. Her commitment to mental and emotional strength has been unmatched as she encourages her athletes to complete journal entries that spark engaging questions to help foster positive and healthy communication. Her work on developing age-group individuals has been inspiring, in addition to her proven track record of assisting competitive athletes such as four-time Olympic medalist Simone Manuel.
