2021 FCST Spring Fling Success!
This past weekend, the First Colony Swim Team finished up the 2020-2021 Short Course Season with the first annual Spring Fling hosted at the FBISD Training Pool. The weekend was full of intense racing and excitement starting on Thursday night. Thursday started off with the 1000 Freestyle where several of our 11–12-year-old athletes swam their very first 1000 Freestyle. The kids did a great job of starting off the weekend with a bang. Laney Schmidt and Kenny Tran had the top times for the 11-12’s, while Avery Collins and Mason Ramsower swam the top times for the 13&Overs.
On Friday we had more excitement with the 15-18 Boys (Bellotti, Brown, Fu, Zhou) kicking off the morning by crushing the 15-18 Boys 200 Medley Relay Team Record with a 1:31.40. Hayden Bellotti also dropped a huge 100 Freestyle going 44.05 which is a 15-16 GULF Swimming record, a new team record, and the 2nd fastest time in the country for 16 year old boys. Avery Collins showed off her hard work going 2:16.70 in the 200 Breaststroke which is her first Winter Junior National Cut as well as the 3rd fastest time in the country this year for 14 year old girls. Logan Brown followed up with a 200 Breaststroke 1:59.21, which was a new team record and the 4th fastest swim in the country for 16 year old boys.
At the 12 and Under session, Addie Williford started off with a big swim in the 100 Free winning with a time of 57.63 and Kenny Tran putting up a 54.61. The 10 and Unders, had some monster drops with Veronica Judd dropping over 5 seconds to win the 10 and Under 50 Breaststroke while Sophia Fu showed off her strength in the 100 Fly coming in fist at a 1:16.56.
Saturday the kids all stayed tough and dialed into the meet by starting off with another 15-18 Boys 200 Freestyle Relay (Brown, Zhou, Fu, Bellotti) team record coming in at 1:23.32. It was a big day with some tough events finishing up with the 400 IM where 12 year old Reese Bingham put up a 5:31.22 and 12 year old Trey Rivera dropped a 5:08.87.
Sunday proved to be the icing on the cake with another 3 sessions of outstanding racing. The FCST swimmers consistently demonstrated their commitment to their training and their team.
FCST would like to thank all the parents, volunteers, and officials for all their support throughout the entire Short Course season. We can’t wait to get started with the 2021 Long Course Season!
