Jan. Volunteer of the Month: Jason Chen

Adrian Gomez

Jason Chen who is the parent rep for AG3FC and Pre3FC is instrumental in helping create bonds between swimmers and parents by planning events. The events allow swimmers and parents to get to know each other. These bonds help create a strong foundation for lifelong relationships between teammates. Mackenzie Chen swims for AG3FC and Ethan Chen swims for Pre23FC. Thank you Jason for everything that you do!

How long have you been with FCST?
- We've been with FCST since 2015.

What's your favorite part of swimming?
-  Driving the kids to morning practice at 5 am. Oh Wait... you asked about my favorite part of swimming.  We started swimming to have the kids learn a life-saving skill and to get some exercise but it's turned into so much more. It has been a pleasure watching the kids develop, from harnessing their drive and learning responsibility and commitment to realizing how to push themselves and dealing with adversity.  Even more so are the friendships the kids (and parents) have built along the way. FCST really is like a family.

Favorite part of swim meets?
 - Seeing how excited and happy the kids are when they hit a goal they have been training hard for all season long for. Plus relays. It's always exciting to cheer on the relays.

Favorite stroke?
- I can't say I have a favorite stroke. My favorite events to watch are the IM's.  As for myself, I do whatever I can to get to the other side of the pool. Don't think what I do can really be classified as a stroke though.

Quick message for the team?
- Have fun, work hard, and support your teammates.
