FCST Claims 1st Place at 14 & under Champs versus Katy!
2024 Gulf 14 & Under Short Course Championships
February 16-18th - Katy High School
1st Place – First Colony Swim Team(FCST) – 2,765.5 points
2nd Place – Katy Aquatics(KATY) – 1,709.5 points
First Colony Swim Team rolled into Katy HS this past weekend for a dual championship with Katy Aquatics to kick start the 2023-24 Short Course Championship season. Friday night’s session came and went with the strength in numbers strategy to overwhelm the opposition with our 12 & Unders taking on the longer distances.
The AM sessions both Saturday & Sunday were for the girls of FCST, and through their energy and effort, along with their ability to swim for one another they were able to claim all 6 relays between the two days. A standout all weekend was Molly Kate Maddan who placed in the top 3 in all her individual races, while also going a 25.67 in the Freestyle split as part of the 11/12 Medley Relay.
The boys came in the afternoons and were able to carry on the theme of swimming fast! All 4 age groups were represented very well(13/14, 11/12, 9/10 and 10 & Unders) and were able to see many royal blue swim caps finishing atop each heat. Swimmer Isaac Zhang was able to pull in 46 points alone for FCST as a 7-year old, and along with teammate Nathan Liu(47 points – 8 years old) the 8 & Under relays were able to thrive.
FCST would like to thank all the parents that came out to support the team. FCST would also like to thank our volunteers and officials for an efficient and great swim meet! The team looks forward to continuing their success the rest of the Short Course Championship season.
