Team Cartoon Takes Down Team Anime in Annual Intrasquad Meet to Kickstart Season

Trenton Thome

This past weekend (Sept. 20–21), FCST hosted our annual intrasquad meet at the FBISD Training Pool. The team was split into two sides: Team Blue (Anime) vs. Team Red (Cartoons). From creative costumes to loud cheers, swimmers, coaches, and parents all embraced the fun theme, making this event just as exciting on deck as it was in the pool.

Over two days of racing, we saw incredible effort, team spirit, and great early-season swims. The competition was tight throughout, but in the end, Team Cartoon came out on top, edging Team Anime by a score of 6,999 to 6,750! Despite being on the losing side, Team Blue(Anime) won the fan-favorite coaches relay to conclude the meet. Coaches Will, Ben H., Justin & Trenton were victorious over Team Cartoon(Colin, Brooks, Adrian & Jessica)

This meet served as an important checkpoint one month into the season giving swimmers and coaches a chance to see where skills and habits are developing. Races were competitive, but also full of teaching moments, with athletes learning to focus on starts, turns, finishes, and race strategies.

Relays were a major highlight of the weekend. Nearly every swimmer got the chance to participate, with an emphasis on being a great teammate; cheering, supporting, and racing for one another. The energy on deck was outstanding, and it was inspiring to see so many swimmers step up in leadership roles.

A huge thank you goes out to all of our parent volunteers and officials for your time and effort in making this meet a success. The enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and hard work shown this weekend set the tone for a strong season ahead!

We aim for October and the Tri-Meet, Dev Meet & Open Water!
