Tri-Meet Triumph: FCST Finishes on Top!

Trenton Thome

First Colony Swim Team took to the pool once again for the October Tri-Meet at the FBISD Training Pool over the weekend of October 10-12th, facing off against two strong Houston-area programs; Dad's Club and the Sharks Swim Team. It was a weekend packed with intensity, team spirit, and grit as FCST swimmers raced to an impressive first-place victory, with Dad's Club earning second place and the Sharks rounding out in third.

This meet is known for its challenging format, and this year was no exception. Athletes across the Age Group, Pre-Senior & Senior divisions were tested in a lineup featuring up to ten possible events, including some of the toughest races in competitive swimming, the 400 IM, 500 Free, and 200's of stroke. It was a true test of endurance, skill, and mental toughness, giving swimmers the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and compete in events that demand complete focus of all four strokes.

From start to finish, the weekend showcased the depth and determination of FCST’s program. Younger swimmers gained valuable experience learning how to manage multiple events and recover between races, while older and more experienced athletes demonstrated leadership and consistency both in and out of the water. Coaches were especially proud of how the team approached each session; focused, disciplined, and willing to take on tough event combinations in pursuit of long-term improvement.

The tri-meet also provided a valuable learning opportunity for coaches and athletes alike, as they also raced in relays. The high level of competition from Dad’s Club and the Sharks kept every race exciting and pushed FCST swimmers to elevate their performances throughout the weekend. Swimmers used the meet as an early-season benchmark, achieving strong mid-season times and setting personal goals for championship meets later in the year.

In the end, it wasn’t just the win that made the meet memorable, it was the collective effort, the visible progress, and the commitment every athlete showed to getting better every time they raced. The spirit of teamwork and determination that defines FCST was on full display, setting a powerful tone for the rest of the season.

Congratulations to all the swimmers, coaches, and families who contributed to another successful meet. The dedication and energy shown this weekend reflect what it means to be part of First Colony Swim Team, striving for excellence together, one race at a time.

One Team, One Dream!
