Simone and Maddie Shine at Pan Pacs in Australia! Simone Manuel and Maddie Locus represented Team USA at the Pan Pacific Championships in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia this past week. The Pan Pacific meet is held every 4 years during the midpoint between the Olympic Games. The meet is chartered by the US, Canada, Japan, and Australia, with some additional countries usually participating. Each country’s top two swimmers from prelims earn a spot in finals. Five FCST swimmers have been named to USA Swimming's 2013-2014 Scholastic All America Team, which is comprised of student athletes with at least one year of high school who have earned at least a 3.5 GPA as well as minimum time standards established by USA Swimming. Veteran FCST swimmer Chris Yeager (15) recently competed in the Jr. Pan Pacific championship meet, held Aug 27-31 in Kihei, Hawaii, on the island of Maui. This is a meet held every 2-3 years, with the US, Canada, Australia, and Japan serving as the charter federations. Athletes must qualify through their own federation, and must not turn 19 before the competition. Chris qualified for this meet based on his performance from the US Open Water National Championships.
