This past weekend FCST senior swimmers had a final tune up meet in Austin at the Senior Circuit Champs! This was a great opportunity to sharpen racing skills and finalize race strategies before entering our championship season. Congratulations to Sean Dormiani, who was elected Gulf athlete rep! Sean will be the junior athlete rep this year, and the senior athlete rep next year. Sean's responsibilities include attending Gulf meetings, voting and voicing concerns on behalf of Gulf athletes, and representing Gulf athletes at the 2013 and 2014 USA Swimming Conventions.

  12 members of the First Colony Swim Team have been selected to the 2013 Zone Team.  Congratulations to the following swimmers: Yun Liu, 12 Mazen Hassan, 12 Chris Yeager, 14 Carlos Monteagudo, 14 Darrin Asphall, 14 Bryanna Vasquez, 14 Anastasia Kontrimas, 14 Victoria Tillman, 14 Claire Donovan, 14 Peyton Quattlebaum, 14 Brittany Bui, 14 Ashley Harmon 14 These swimmers will join others from the Gulf LSC to participate in the Southern Zone Age Group Championships in Greenville, SC.  The competition will take place July 30-August 4th.

Congratulations to Simone Manuel, who placed 2nd in the 50m freestyle at the 2013 World Championships Trials. Simone's time of 25.01 is the fastest 15-16 time in American history! By placing 2nd in the event, Simone has earned an individual event at the World Championships in July. She was named the 18 & Under national champion in the event. Previously in the week, Simone placed 3rd in the 100m freestyle, earning a spot on the 4 x 100 freestyle relay. Congratulations Simone!
