12 members of the First Colony Swim Team have been selected to the 2013 Zone Team. Congratulations to the following swimmers: Yun Liu, 12 Mazen Hassan, 12 Chris Yeager, 14 Carlos Monteagudo, 14 Darrin Asphall, 14 Bryanna Vasquez, 14 Anastasia Kontrimas, 14 Victoria Tillman, 14 Claire Donovan, 14 Peyton Quattlebaum, 14 Brittany Bui, 14 Ashley Harmon 14 These swimmers will join others from the Gulf LSC to participate in the Southern Zone Age Group Championships in Greenville, SC. The competition will take place July 30-August 4th.
FCST swimmers turned up the heat at the FBISD Training Facility this past weekend! With record temperature outside, the swimmers were just as hot inside. Congratulations to Simone Manuel, who placed 2nd in the 50m freestyle at the 2013 World Championships Trials. Simone's time of 25.01 is the fastest 15-16 time in American history! By placing 2nd in the event, Simone has earned an individual event at the World Championships in July. She was named the 18 & Under national champion in the event. Previously in the week, Simone placed 3rd in the 100m freestyle, earning a spot on the 4 x 100 freestyle relay. Congratulations Simone!

Congratulations to Simone Manuel, who placed 3rd at the World Championship Trials in the 100 freestyle. Her time of 53.83 is the 8th fastest time in the world this year, and her finish qualified her for the US 400 free relay at the World Championships! Thankfully, some food items can stay in the swim bag, providing relief in situations where optimal food sources may be scant or not ideal. The following snacks require no refrigeration, are temperature tolerant and provide a great fuel source. With a 1-2 finish in the 13-14 boys 200 Fly, Chris Yeager and Carlos Monteagudo led FCST on the last night of the GCST Summer Invitational.
