USA Swimming has twenty-seven national committees that support the USA Swimming Board of Directors. Every year, coaches, athletes, and officials submit applications to sit on these committees. This year, FCST had FOUR members appointed to a national committee! Simone Manuel, a junior at Austin High School, was appointed to the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The mission of this committee is to provide opportunities in swimming to the under-represented and economically disadvantaged youth in the United States. Congratulations to Simone Manuel, Brett Pinfold, and Kaitlyn Swinney for an outstanding performance at the 2012 USA Swimming Winter National Championships. The group came away with numerous best times, Texas and Gulf records, and a great deal of experience competing at the national level. Thanks to Simone and Kaitlyn’s efforts, the women finished 11th in the club team scoring. Simone set new Gulf and Texas records in the 100 free and 200 free, and she set a Gulf record in the 200 IM. Congratulations to Brett Pinfold, a senior at Austin High School, who has signed a letter of intent to swim at the University of Wisconsin in the fall. Brett is a 2012 Olympic Trials participant and Jr National finalist. Wisconsin is a top 25 school, and Brett looks to make an immediate contribution to the middle distance program. Brett has been a member of FCST for nearly 10 years, and we congratulate Brett on continuing his swimming career in college!
FCST had 30 seniors compete in the November Senior Meet in Pearland. This was a fantastic mid-season meet for the senior swimmers, highlighted by Ashley Mercadel and Darrin Asphall.
